Guinea :: 63rd Anniversary of the Assassination of Dr. Félix Roland Moumié: The Overall Assessment :: Guinea

The mobilization of Conakry in memory of Dr Félix Roland Moumié and several other African independence leaders, on November 10 and 11, 2023, will have been exceptional.

This year’s edition was marked by an event which forced the organizing committee to push back the initial date by a week.

First scheduled for November 4, 2023, the event was postponed to November 10 of the same year, following the mutiny which took place on the initial date, at the main prison of Conakry. Mutiny which forced local authorities to surround the entire city of Conakry for several days.

This successful commemoration finally and effectively took place, generating new expenses which did not appear in the budget of the organizing committee.

At the end of this commemoration, spokesperson Gäel Djomo sent his letter of resignation to the Foundation. We take this opportunity to convey our thanks to him for having contributed to the success of the activities of the Moumié Foundation in Conakry for 03 years.

At the end of the activities, the special envoy of the Moumié Foundation in Conakry, back in Brussels, along with several other members of the Foundation, met to take stock.

Following the scale that this historic event is now taking on in Guinea, we have mutually agreed to set up a local branch of the Foundation in Conakry.

This will allow us to compensate for certain shortcomings observed in the field and above all make this antenna autonomous.

In the history of countries, there are generations who receive more than they can give and others who are responsible for regenerating the exhausted nation. We all have a heavy burden: Continue to work in the same vein as our African independence leaders

The fight of Félix Moumié just like those of Patrice Lumumba, Ahmed Sekou Touré Amilcar Cabral, Ernest Ouandjié, Um Nyobé, Njiawouo Nicanor, Barthelemy Boganda etc. for the improvement of the living standards of Africans, their autonomy and independence constitutes proof that the development process is not only a Western concern, but a social fact specific to all people.
