This Friday the elected president of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, visited the TC Televisión channel and spoke with the workers of this medium that has been seized by the State for 13 years, despite the fact that at the beginning it was promised that it would be sold in six months.

Lasso indicated that the medium would be put up for sale through a public tender so that they can bid from the interior of the country and from abroad, and in this way the company returns to the private sector so that new partners invest and modernize the channel.

Meanwhile, according to Lasso, this medium will not show only the official version of the government, “as it did during the last government” and that the editorial line will be set by those who run the channel.

He also mentioned that while it is in public hands, the works will be guaranteed.

“I want them to have the absolute and total peace of mind that those aspirations or commitments not fulfilled, we are going to fulfill them … their labor rights are going to be respected,” said Lasso.

In his speech, he added that he wants to make Ecuador the new country in America that attracts the greatest amount of investment possible, because it is the only way to generate employment and bring knowledge to undertake.

“We will try to create as many jobs as possible and support entrepreneurship,” he said.

Lasso commented that he does not agree with the State having the highest holding of the country’s media because that affects freedom.

He gave an example that in the previous period when he came to an interview on this channel, the journalist told him that he was obliged to ask him certain questions and to excuse him because they were not his.

“That in my government is not going to happen because journalists from all the media will act with total freedom of conscience,” said the president-elect, who affirms that he sees the press as a counterweight to the power of the government. (I)
