“Playing is a lot like writing poems,” commented the musician. Guillermo Briseño in the presentation of his book “Blissful music, intact silence and other accolades”.
Accompanied by the also writers Eduardo Langagne, Jorge González de León and José Manuel Pintado, Briseño was part of a discussion in which they not only talked about the author’s career but also highlighted the relationship between both arts: music and poetry.
“I do not know when they divide, surely in the most particular peculiarities of each thing where each trade takes its character, its route, its own branches. They are like branches that are born from the same trunk and suddenly you do not explain why some are green and some are red, “said Briseño.
“It’s nice to hear a song that has an interesting poetic level, that attracts you, drives you crazy,” he stressed.
Briseño has a history of more than 60 years in which he has worked in genres such as blues and rock, recording more than 20 albums.
The presentation of what is his fifth book of verses was made through the official account of Facebook of Editions of the Lily In addition to a talk, it included the reading of some passages by Briseño.
“It’s called ‘Said Music’ because … I’ve heard that the poem has music, as some corny say, and I think a poem has as many music as there are talented people who can figure out how to put music on it and not disgrace it”, shared.
“There are unusable poems that I wouldn’t even dare, although if someone dares they would give me a lesson but I have the feeling that you have to know how to choose to set music”.
