Guido sells his deceased friend’s water tower: ‘His life’s work’

Living in a thirty meter high water tower: the now deceased artist Marius Dielemans did it for years and renovated the entire tower. After his death, good friend Guido Pallada bought the tower. To give a new life to his friend’s beloved building, Guido sells the special tower.

The water tower at Parrallelweg 127 near the John F. Kennedy Viaduct in Bergen op Zoom is not to be missed. The monumental building from 1899 was occupied by the artist Marius Dielemans from 2004 to 2018. “It was his life’s work,” says friend Guido. “He has turned an empty tube into a habitable tower.”

That was quite a renovation. “There was no water, gas or electricity. Now there is a bathroom, kitchen and different floors in the tower.” The different floors can be reached via the large wooden staircase designed by the artist for the tower. “You don’t have to go to the gym if you live in the water tower, because there are enough stairs, although there is also a work lift in the stairs.”

The interior shows that an artist has been working. “Marius worked with water shapes. For example, many wavy shapes and drops can be seen in the interior. A lot of light enters through the openings that Marius made.”

However, there is still a lot of work to be done before the tower can be occupied. “Unfortunately, Marius was never able to finish the renovation.” The tower has already been withdrawn from sale once in the search for the right buyer, but the building has been up and running again for six months. Sheath.

Guido asks 625,000 euros for the tower. “I am looking for someone who has enough budget to take care of the tower. The future owner can make it what he or she wants, as long as it is not empty.”

By selling the tower, Guido hopes to give his friend’s project a new lease of life. “Marius died way too early at the age of 64. This was completely his project.”
