Guido Rodriguez left Real Betis in Spain to join West Ham in England

Argentine midfielder Guido Rodríguez has joined West Ham in England and signed a contract until mid-2027 after being released from Real Betis in Spain.

After winning the Copa América in the United States with the Argentine national team and his failed transfer to Barcelona in Spain, the River Plate-trained footballer became the eighth signing for the London team.

The 30-year-old, a four-time champion with the ‘Albiceleste’ under coach Lionel Scaloni, joins the team managed by Spaniard Julen Lopetegui after spending four years at Real Betis in Spain and leaving on a free transfer this transfer market.

After being announced as a new West Ham player, the Sáenz Peña native declared: “I am very happy to be here. I feel that it is every footballer’s dream to play in the Premier League and I was very excited when I heard that West Ham were interested in me. It is a historic club, which has a really interesting project. I think it is the right club, at the right time, and I hope that together we can continue to grow.”

“I will help the team in any way I can. I will bring experience, although I am aware that the Premier League is very physical. I am willing to work to make sure I am up to the task,” he said. “What I can tell the fans is that I will give them everything. I am very motivated and I believe that, together with the fans, we can achieve many good things. I can’t wait to get started!” added Rodriguez.

With this arrival, the midfielder becomes the ninth Argentine player to wear the ‘Hammers’ jersey following in the footsteps of Mauricio Taricco, Lionel Scaloni, Carlos Tevez, Javier Mascherano, Pablo Zabaleta, Jonathan Calleri, Mauro Zarate and Manuel Lanzini.
