Flight from Germany to Las Vegas. Pick up at the airport and transfer to the hotel. A big city, this Las Vegas! Everything is easy and relaxed here, day or night. 24/7, there is no curfew! The good life is always the order of the day here. The gambling city is known for its big hotels like Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, MGM Grand, New York New York, Monte Carlo, Aladin, Bellagio, Paris, Flamingo Hilton, Mirage, Caesar’s Palace, Venetian, Treasure Island just to name a few. A fantastic and unforgettable experience! In the evening we rent a limousine and go to Old Las Vegas. Where it all began is a must-see on Freemont Street with its 24.5 million LED lights putting on a fantastic show. (optional $20)
2nd day: Tuesday – Free day in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is also an exciting city during the day and there is so much to see and do. Your travel buddy lives in Vegas, so he knows his way around! Upon request, your tour guide will give you ADVICE on anything worth seeing and will also be happy to assist you with purchasing tickets for the show of your choice. Every night there are about 150 different shows or concerts and many of them are free! Everyone can find what they are looking for in Las Vegas. Opposite Treasure Island is a rather sexy show with seductive sirens several times a day. A fire-breathing volcano erupts at the Mirage every 30 minutes and of course there is great live music throughout. The musically accompanied water games at the Bellagio are also beautiful, the gondoliers at the Venetian and at the Paris are simply fantastic. In New York-New York there are huge roller coasters, and on the Strat Tower you can fly 270 meters above the Las Vegas Strip in an ejection seat! (about $10.00). Of course you can also try to raise your money in Vegas. But the machines are greedy and the gaming tables are full of good players. But one or the other has already managed to significantly increase the holiday budget! A visit to the largest Ferris wheel in the new world is recommended for the good view of all the hustle and bustle. Or you should have caught a true world-class table dance show at the Cheetah or Little Darlings. Of course, you can also shop until your credit card runs out. The famous Fashion Mall with over 200 world-class stores is right next to our hotel. There is also something to eat around every corner. Whether it’s a good steak, a hot dog in your hand, sweets in the world’s largest M&M’s, delicious burgers in the Hard Rock Café or much more…
Those who are already homesick after two days are welcome to the Hofbräuhaus. Good German cuisine, Bavarian music, sway…. Well you know!
3rd day: Wednesday
We pick up the bikes from the rental company in Las Vegas early in the morning and head south. After an hour we reach, in stark contrast, a godforsaken village called Nelson with an old gold mine. Kevin Costner made a number of movies here and movies and music videos are still being made there. The area is great! Continue to Laughlin on the Colorado River. Laughlin is certainly familiar to many River Run Bike Week riders. Next to Daytona and Sturgis, one of the largest biker rallies in the USA. This gambling city, in the border triangle between California, Nevada and Arizona, offers not only excellent international cuisine, but also very good and famous bands and musicians. Tonight we sleep with the Avi Indians in their hotel-casino. A beautiful pool landscape with palm trees invites you to relax. Colorado also has a sandy beach here, and it’s nice to cool off in the cold water of the river.
Driving distance about 120 miles / 195km
4th day: Thursday
From the hotel today we head straight for the Black Mountains. These are the southern slopes of the Rockies. On Route 66, truly preserved in its original state, we reach the western city of Oatman. Here, at an altitude of 1500 metres, the Wild West is still in order. Clark Gable has been married twice here and has also done a few movies. The impression that the world stopped here years ago is by no means misleading. A pair of sleepy, semi-wild donkeys and cowboys reinforce this impression. Continue on Route 66 to the Kingman, an old coaching inn on the Santa Fe Railroad. With 5 locomotives and often well over 100 wagons, the trains are still very impressive today. Here Jesse James, still in the same place, successfully robbed 24 trains and was never caught. A museum was built for him in Kingman. Here Route 66 is only 18 feet (5 meters) wide. Just like it was built 70 years ago and nothing has changed to this day. The huge truck stop we pass today is also impressive. Then we drive another 120 miles to Sedona Valley, mostly on Route 66 – a beautiful route – pure Wild West! We drive through places like: Seligman, Peach Springs and through the Hualapay Indian Reservation. We stop for lunch in Seligman. There is also the historic Seligman Sundries among many other things. Uschi and Tom (a Swiss and a Franconian) invite you to coffee and sundries. Plus some live music from local guitarist John Weston. Today is the longest stretch of the entire trip, but the beauty of nature makes up for the slightly longer journey! The 40 miles through the Sedona Valley is guaranteed to be unforgettable – it simply doesn’t get any more beautiful and awe-inspiring. At the end of the valley is the city of Flagstaff. Nearby Arizona’s tallest mountain: Humphrey Pike. After all, it’s a whopping 13,000 feet high, and we’re staying here tonight, very close to the Grand Canyon. In the evening, a delicious steak awaits us – just the way Americans like it.
Driving distance about 275 miles / 440km
5th day: Friday
Trying to describe the Grand Canyon…. SEE – EXPERIENCE – AMAZE! Today, those who want and dare have the opportunity to fly into the Grand Canyon by helicopter. Helicopters usually have 5 – 6 seats and usually all seats are window seats. The flight cost us about $219.00 per person and takes about 40 minutes. A German commentary in the headphones is very helpful. We then drive about 50 miles through Grand Canyon National Park, clearly a great route. Obviously we make several stops at the most beautiful viewpoints. At the end of the park is a huge Navajo Indian store. We will stop there before continuing north to Page and Lake Powell. Then it’s off to Utah via the Navajo Bridge. Now on the north side of the Grand Canyon. Again the most beautiful nature!
Driving distance about 295 miles / 475km
Day 6: Saturday – Zion National Park!
It’s hard to describe even here – you have to see it! From north to south we drive about 30 miles through the park with many passes and valleys. At the end of Zion National Park is the town of Hurricane and there is also a small but good Harley dealership here. On Interstate 15 we drive again in the direction of Las Vegas. Halfway down is the Moapa Indian Reservation and there’s a slightly unusual, Indian-run, tax-free shop there: Indian art and all sorts of stuff! After another 25 miles, the next success comes today: The Valley of Fire is also largely unknown to Americans, but it’s a really good tip. The Valley of Fire that we experience in the evening sun is not that well known, but believe me it is beautiful and unforgettable. Then 50 miles of the most beautiful biker path along Lake Mead, or the Colorado River dammed by the Hoover Dam. Everyone can do this amazing ride by themselves. At the end of the day, our hotel is in the heart of Boulder City. There are some bars with good live music just around the corner.
Driving distance about 240 miles / 390km
Day 7: Sunday
Our hotel is just a few miles from the Hoover Dam. A rather impressive structure, over which a 300m high bridge was built, which was finally completed in October 2010.
Then it’s back to Las Vegas and we deliver the bikes, with one eye laughing and one crying. There is still one day left in this city full of lights, slot machines, but also great evening shows. Everyone organizes the day as he wants.
Driving distance 90 miles / 145km
