Kiosk 360. After the “mortgage swindler” was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment, the appearance of new victims revived the investigation.
In all likelihood, “the mortgage crook”, who wore a beard to give himself the appearance of a wise man, would have wreaked havoc in the town of Guercif and its surroundings. Sentenced to five years in prison for fraud, fraud and breach of trust, the individual finds himself again before the competent public prosecutor of the city for investigation.
Indeed, new victims appeared after the verdict in this case which had held public opinion in suspense. New victims claim to have been swindled in the same way as previous victims, daily reports al mass in its edition of Thursday, April 8.
The respondent rented apartments and subsequently sold them for rent, against a certain monthly payment and via a mortgage varying between 100,000 and 200,000 dirhams, the daily sources recall. And, to mislead landlords who let him lease their real estate, he paid them the rental amount for the whole year. Once the transaction was concluded, he re-let the apartments via mortgages, by making the beneficiaries sign IOUs. The maneuver enabled him to extract large sums of money from his victims.
This maneuver lasted several years, before an owner discovered that his apartment was occupied by another family. It was at this point that this con man’s modus operandi was laid bare. Today, the number of victims continues to grow. Already convicted of the same charges, this crook will certainly see his sentence increased after the appearance of these new victims.
