The Autonomous Sports Confederation of Guatemala (CDAG) and the Guatemalan Olympic Committee (COG) has approved a series of economic benefits aimed at athletes and coaches participating in the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
This measure aims to recognize and reward the efforts of athletes who represent the country in international competitions.
Lifetime pension for Olympic and Paralympic winners
In a resolution issued on July 29, 2024, the Guatemalan Olympic Committee decided to grant a monthly lifetime pension to Guatemalan athletes who won medals at the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The amount of the pension will be determined according to the medal received:
- Gold medal: 10 minimum monthly salaries.
- Silver medal: 8 minimum monthly salaries.
- Bronze Medal: 6 minimum monthly wages.
This pension comes into effect once the athlete officially retires from his sporting career, complying with the requirements established in the respective regulations.
In addition, they announced the financial awards for athletes and coaches who won medals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Financial rewards for athletes and coaches
In addition to the lifetime pension, the delivery of financial awards to the winners and their coaches at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has been agreed by the CDAG and the COG.
Awards for athletes
- Gold Coin: Q3,000,000 (Q1,500,000 for CDAG and Q1,500,000 for COG).
- Coin Prize: Q2,000,000 (Q1,000,000 for CDAG and Q1,000,000 for COG).
- Bronze Medal: Q1,250,000 (Q625,000 for CDAG and Q625,000 for COG).
- 4 to Place (Olympic Diploma): Q500,000.
- 5 to Place (Olympic Diploma): Q400,000.
- 6 to at 8vo. Place (Olympic Diploma): Q250,000.
Coach Awards
- Gold Coin: Q750,000.
- Coin Prize: Q500,000.
- Bronze Medal: Q312,500.
- 4 to Place (Olympic Diploma): Q125,000.
- 5 to Place (Olympic Diploma): Q100,000.
- 6 to at 8vo. Place (Olympic Diploma): Q62,500.
Legal basis
These decisions are based on articles of Decree 76-97 of the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala, which promotes the development of sports in the country. Relevant articles include:
