Guatemala City, April 17 (AGN).- He Guatemalan Government will hold a labor competency certification day in New York, United States, this week.
The city of Riverhead will host this activity, whose purpose is to formally recognize the skills and knowledge of Guatemalans residing in the area. The evaluations begin this Monday and will end on Thursday.
The procedure is in charge of Ministry of Education (Mineduc)which coordinates with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to bring the service closer to the migrant population.
The objective is to recognize and support the knowledge, skills and competencies acquired throughout life for work and entrepreneurship in different trades or occupations.

In the US, the initiative is approaching through the National Alternative Education Program (Pronea)which is aimed at citizens who for various reasons did not complete their studies.
Through this initiative, it will also develop a day of evaluation for sufficiency for those who did not complete primary, basic or diversified. The procedure consists of evaluating the knowledge of the participants, in order to grant them the corresponding academic credit.
The authorities invite nationals to participate in both days. They added that in this way they contribute to their economic development.

The details
Some of the activities that will be evaluated in this skills certification day are fishing and aquaculture, food industry, construction, maintenance and facilities.
Those who work in the kitchen, bakery, confectionery, auto mechanics, barbershop and gardening can also choose, according to the Mineduc list. This contemplates at least 120 occupations.
As part of the process, a practical test is taken. Experts from the corresponding occupational technical area carry out the evaluation, which leads to certification by the educational portfolio.
