This Sunday, September 19, another batch of Russian Sputnik V vaccines arrived in the country acquired by the Government through a controversial contract.
It is about 700 thousand doses that “will complete the scheme of people who already have the first dose of the vaccine ”, reported the Government.

According to the Guatemalan News Agency, this batch will specifically serve to be distributed in the 18 Health areas that are applying the Russian vaccine.
After receiving the drugs (not attended by the Minister of Health, Francisco Coma), these were transferred to the National Biological Center.
According to data provided by the Government, the country has received 2,160,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccines, of which only 860 thousand are from the second component.
After several months of not having disclosed the delivery dates of the vaccines purchased from Russia, Salud revealed the details on September 16.
However, on one of the dates already met a delay of 40 thousand doses was evidenced.
Guatemala initially ordered Russia 16 million doses of the immunizer and last April paid about $ 79.6 million for half of the purchase. However, the delay in deliveries caused the country to propose the return of the money.
After the controversy, Guatemala and Russia agreed last July complete only the purchase of 8 million vaccines, although so far it has only received 1.3 million for first doses and 860 thousand for second doses. On July 15, Guatemala received the first 60,000 second doses of this vaccine.

According to the vaccination figures from the Ministry of Health this Sunday, 4 million 98 thousand 782 people have received the first dose, while 2 million 19 thousand 287 already have the complete scheme.
The target population that the Government set is 10.5 million Guatemalans vaccinated with the complete scheme.
