Guatemala has a new batch of vaccines to fight the covid-19 pandemic. These were not purchased by the Guatemalan government, it is a new donation.
Now it was the Swiss government that transferred a batch with 288,000 doses of vaccines to Guatemala on Christmas Eve to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus among the Guatemalan population.
The details of the donated vaccines are as follows: 115,200 doses of Casa Moderna, and 172,800 of Moderna Bivalente, this second is suitable for use in adolescents from 12 years of age.
The official statement of the Guatemalan government indicates that these doses can be used as a fourth vaccine or booster dose, and it is advisable to proceed with its application four months after receiving the last dose to complete the program.
In Guatemala, more than 8 million 800 thousand people have been documented with at least one dose, 7 million have a full schedule of two vaccines and about 4 million 72 thousand have booster shots, according to official data.
The new donation Guatemala receives to fight the pandemic will be distributed to more than 400 vaccination posts, authorities say.
