With indigenous samples of our culture such as music, dance and theater, Mayor Luis Jonás Reyes Flores, through the Tourist Board of Barquisimeto (CORTUBAR), has delivered to the guaros the rehabilitation, improvements and beautification of the picturesque Plaza San José, a symbol of religious and cultural tourism.
“We are carrying out a work of great impact for us, such as the total rehabilitation of the San José square, which is not only part of the beautification of the city and the recovery of public spaces, but also allows the humanization of the center of Barquisimeto to have decent spaces, these works had an investment of 500,000 bolivars”, said Reyes Flores.
This space, located in calle 25 between carreras 21 and 22 (parish cathedral) is a meeting point par excellence for visitors to the centre, therefore, among the works carried out by CORTUBAR there is the installation of 8 new metal kiosks and the repair of existing kiosks .
Likewise, the municipal body was in charge of making approximately 30mts2 of artistic mural, inspired by San José and representing the Larense devotion to the beloved carpenter. The repair of gardens and benches has been an essential part of the change in this square.

As part of a joint effort to strengthen the infrastructure of Iribarren, EMICA achieved the successful implementation of the Tapa Hueco plan on nearby streets and the installation of LED lighting fixtures in the square and its surroundings, while the AMTT took care of the painting of the facade and the delimitation of the walkway and avenues.
