Pep Guardiola could not hold back the emotion in the last fight Sergio Aguero defend Manchester City of Premier League. The manager burst into tears.
Aguero will leave City after the season ends. He did not renew his contract, and wanted to find a new challenge after playing at the Etihad Stadium since 2011.
Fight against Everton in the 38th week, being Aguero’s last game at Premier League. The Argentine striker had a moment guard of honour from both teams before competing.
Aguero himself appeared as a substitute player in that match. However, he did not miss the party by buying up two goals, in City’s 5-0 win over Everton at the Etihad Stadium.
After the match, Pep Guardiola asked about a figure Sergio Aguero, who had five seasons helping him on Manchester City. Ex coach Barcelona and Bayern Munich until shed tears when discussing the player.
“He is a special figure for all of us,” said Guardiola, during an interview Sky Sports.
“He’s so good. He helped me a lot, he’s very good / We can’t replace him, we can’t,” said Guardiola, his voice starting to tremble and eyes flushing red from being so emotional.
Guardiola then continued, “There are many players at this club, like Joe Hart and David Silva, who help us become a club,” he continued.
“We helped him make a legacy and he showed it in the last 20 minutes,” said the Spaniard.
Since 2011, Aguero has scored 260 goals and 73 assists, and helped City win five Premier League titles, 6 Premier League Cups, 3 Community Shield titles and one FA Cup.
Sergio Aguero live to have the last match together Manchester City in the final Champions League by fighting Chelsea, 29 May. The Champions League trophy will clearly complete Aguero’s journey with The Citizens.
