Coach Pep Guardiola played down the importance of his team, Manchester City, snatching the top of the English Premier League from Arsenal, after its 3-1 victory at its host on Wednesday.
City made a strong performance in the second half, to achieve its 11th consecutive league victory over Arsenal, and snatch the lead from it on goal difference, as they each have 51 points, but Arsenal, seeking its first league title since 2004, has a postponed match.
City will be a candidate to achieve its fifth title in six seasons with Guardiola, but the Spanish coach indicated that there is still a long way to go.
Guardiola told reporters: Arsenal has a postponed match, so I consider him in the lead. Many matches remain, and there are Champions League and European League matches, and many difficulties for everyone. But the important thing is that we could have come here a few weeks ago eight or nine points behind, losing there would have complicated our situation.
He added: But now that Arsenal dropped several points, we came here with the opportunity to reduce the difference and won the match.
City will host its rival Arsenal at the end of April, which is the period in which Guardiola believes that the competition will be the most intense, and he said: The competition will be formed in the last eight or ten matches, there are still 15 matches, many exhausting matches for the players.
