Pep Guardiola is very disappointed by the shocking defeat he suffered with Manchester City on Sunday. The manager saw his team in the Premier League lose 2-5 against Leicester City.
City, which had to do without strikers Sergio Agüero and Gabriel Jesus, conceded five goals in their own stadium for the first time since 2003. At the time it became 1-5 against Arsenal.
“Leicester did not want to play football. They withdrew completely and played purely on the counter,” said Guardiola, who saw his team take the lead early, against the BBC.
“Their first chance was an instant hit and they got three penalties, so that made it difficult for us. We got nervous and anxious because we didn’t create many chances.”
At halftime it was 1-1, after which Leicester struck in the second half and Jamie Vardy made a hat-trick. A hit by City defender Nathan Aké could not ease the pain.
“This defeat is hard, but I’m not going to give up immediately,” said Guardiola, who will visit Leeds United with City in the next Premier League round. “I’m going to find a solution for this and work on a stable team.”
