Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola joked that Ilkay Gundogan would ban him from the Premier League squad until the end of the season after the midfielder’s wife complained there were no good places to eat in Manchester .
Italy’s Sarah Arfaoui, the player’s wife, made headlines in British newspapers after posting on Instagram that she couldn’t find a good restaurant in Manchester and that “the food is horrible everywhere”.
Arfaoui’s comments appeared on the front page of the popular newspaper The Sun, and the local Manchester Evening News ran the anger of some restaurateurs and some wondered where Gundogan’s wife had gone.
Guadiola, a restaurant owner in town, was questioned on Friday about his reaction during the press conference for City’s home game against Southampton on Saturday.
“I am disappointed that they have not tasted (the taste) of my restaurant,” the Spanish coach said with a laugh. This bothers me. Gendo will not participate any moment until the end of the season.
And he concluded: I will invite her and Gendo to go and taste, and of course they will eat the food properly.
