Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Review: An Unruly and Excessive, Yet Touching Marvel Blockbuster

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is being touted as one of the most “remarkably wild” films to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with writer-director James Gunn being given free rein to indulge his wildest fantasies. The result is a film that’s a mix of galactic capers, comedic banter, and emotional sincerity – with the latter being a standout feature. The cast, comprising Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff, and Bradley Cooper, are credited with delivering some of their best performances yet, selling the emotional beats with ease. The film’s frenetic pace and lack of coherence in both storytelling and visuals have divided critics, however, with some feeling that Gunn could have exercised more restraint in putting together the film’s two-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nonetheless, for those looking for an action-packed, off-the-wall romp through the galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 promises to be a rollicking good time.
