Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which concludes Marvel’s trilogy about an intergalactic team of misfits, grossed $114 million at the North American box office in its opening weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Despite these high numbers, the film fell slightly short of the expected $120 million and was well behind its predecessor, 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. Lord Chris Pratt and his friends and raised $94 million in 2014.
Internationally, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 grossed $168 million in 52 markets, bringing its worldwide box office to $282 million. The comic book movie made a better-than-expected $28 million at the start.
All indications are that The Disney and Marvel Studios superhero sequel will hit the $300 million mark in the coming days.
