SAINT HOMER. The hygiene, epidemiology and public health service of the ASL of Teramo has written to the Municipality of Sant’Omero asking to issue a disinfestation provision for the part of the historic center of Via Govi which has been closed to passage (since 2017 due to the earthquake and snowfall) because full of guano from pigeons and birds. That part of the village has been uninhabited for some time due to structural problems and the state of abandonment, as well as the failure to start the safety works that private individuals should take care of in the parts they own, has generated public hygiene problems. The health company intervened following a complaint denouncing the lack of hygiene in that area. In addition to cleaning, the sanitary technicians asked the municipal administration led by the mayor Andrea Luzii to also implement initiatives aimed at containing if not blocking the nesting of pigeons and to undertake actions to avoid the approach and presence of the birds. In the area which is unusable and struggling with hygiene problems, among other things, there is a lack of suitable signs to prevent access. (a.d.p.)
