Guanajuato Health System Begins Application of 195 Thousand Doses of MMR Vaccine to Prevent Measles Outbreak

Guanajuato, Guanajuato. February 26, 2024.- Starting this Monday, February 26, the Gto Health System will begin the application of 195 thousand doses against Measles, Rubella and Parotitis (SRP), better known as Triple Viral.

The Secretary of Health, Ligia Arce Padilla, reported that Guanajuato, through the Universal Vaccination Program, has sought strategies to guarantee the application of the MMR vaccine to all children between 1 and 6 years old, seeking specific protection against a possible measles outbreak.

Therefore, the MMR vaccine will be available starting Monday, February 26 in all first-level units regardless of whether the minor has IMSS or ISSSTE.

In addition, on March 9 of this year, an Intensive State Vaccination Day will be held where all health institutions will participate to apply as many vaccines as possible from the basic scheme by placing vaccination posts throughout the territory.

Giving effective access to the population to take their minor children who have this or another vaccine in their vaccination schedule pending.

There will be vaccines for all age groups, semi-fixed posts will be installed in strategic places, it is very important to go with the National Health Card

In addition, the following basic schedule vaccines are available: BCG, Hepatitis B, Hexavalent, Rotavirus, 13-valent Pneumo, Influenza, Td, SR, DPT and TDPA.

Arce Padilla reiterated that Guanajuato remains without documented cases of measles.

The last measles outbreak was in 2020 in Mexico, and Guanajuato has had no cases since 1995.

The entity has a vaccination coverage of more than 95%, that is, there is constant immunization for the population.
