“When they announced it, I was so happy“, confides Guillaume Lorin the day after his victory.”It was really great good news, it makes a lot of pain in the stomach because I did not expect to receive an award at all, even less from this festival which is quite recognized, it’s great.“

Watch her thank you message (in English) :
Written with Aurore Auguste and Antoine Lanciaux, Vanilla tells the story of a little girl of the same name, sent on vacation to Guadeloupe, where her mother is from. At first completely refractory, the 9-year-old girl will finally immerse herself in the island and her imagination during a thrilling initiatory journey. We find there the tales and myths of Guadeloupe, but also its lush landscapes, recreated in 2D thanks to real shots, and even familiar voices since personalities of the island such as Tricia Evy, Jocelyne Béroard or even Ipomène Léauva dubbed the characters.

If he does not hide his joy at having received his two prizes, Guillaume Lorin says he does not have them “expected” for “continue to write and launch other projects“. Projects which will undoubtedly be well helped by these rewards, he admits:”For a director to have recognition across the Atlantic, it’s really nice.“
