TVE broadcast on Christmas Day ‘MasterChef Grandparents’, a special delivery of the talent in which for the first time a group of over 65s fought to become the best ‘senior’ chef. At the end of the broadcast, the program chose its first winner, Guadalupe Fiñana, known on Instagram as ‘La abuela de dragones’.
The La 1 y Shine Iberia special aimed to become an emotional tribute to all the elderly in this especially difficult year for them because of the coronavirus. In this broadcast, the usual structure of the culinary talent of La 1 was followed, with a scoring system similar to that used in ‘MasterChef Junior’. The main surprise was in the jury, and is that for the first time the position of Samantha Vallejo-Nágera was filled by Loles León.

At the end of the delivery, the three judges chose the winning candidate. The actress of ‘La que se avecina’, Jordi Cruz and Pepe Rodríguez opted for Guadalupe Fiñana, a woman from Huelva who came to the program as the veteran at 86 years old.
The winner was not new to the media world, as she is known as the ‘grandmother of dragons’. Guadalupe rose to fame a few months ago when her grandchildren posted a video of her on social media that ended up going viral: “I’m a fan of ‘Game of Thrones’. When I saw the last season my grandchildren recorded me in my nightgown and I went on Instagram”, explained.
