GTFO Update Brings Rundown With Ten New Expeditions

10 Chambers, the Swedish studio made up of industry veterans known for the Payday franchise, has announced the release of the seventh content update for its four-player co-op shooter GTFO.

The “Rundown 7.0 Rise”, as the update is called, adds ten new expeditions, a new environment called Gardens, a revamped tutorial and two terrifying enemies – one of them equipped with tentacles. Newcomers to GTFO will be able to try the game for free this weekend on Steam.

“It’s great to be able to deliver yet another free update to our GTFO community while also being able to invite everyone to try the title during our free weekend on Steam,” said Robin Björkell, Director of Communications at 10 Chambers. “To make onboarding new Prisoners brave enough to embark on the Facility a little easier, we’ve added a single-player tutorial level that will teach them the basics of the title. But we advise players to embark on their quests with their friends, for a fuller and more fun experience.”

GTFO uses the concept of ‘Rundowns’, regular game updates that add new limited-time expeditions – including maps, scenarios, enemies, etc. – that completely replace the previous content. Since the title’s launch, 10 Chambers has delivered six major Rundown updates. The seventh edition – Rise – introduces the new Gardens environment, with abundant fauna and flora that contrast with the game’s previously cold and dark environments. Two new enemy types lurk in the bushes, one being particularly sticky and the other perhaps immortal.

The title has earned a reputation as a terrifying, hardcore co-op multiplayer shooter where teamwork means the difference between life and death. With a team of four prisoners held against their will by a mysterious entity called “The Warden” who deems them all expendable, survival depends on the players’ ability to communicate, coordinate and manage their ammunition – otherwise, they are doomed to a troubled and bloody death.

GTFO’s “Rundown 7.0 Rise” update also features an improved localization that ensures more non-English speaking players can follow GTFO’s ongoing story arc, expanded in this update. The new Rundown also includes a number of improvements such as new sound effects, a more dynamic music system, updated animation, graphical enhancements, and clearer visualization of progression rewards.
