GTA V sales drop after announcement of next-gen console version

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick announced in a financial statement that shipments Grand Theft Auto V made 135 million copies on September 30 this year. However, sales declined ahead of the release of the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

In the previous quarter, Zelnik told investors that it had been shipped “Nearly 135 million copies” Grand Theft Auto V at the end of June. In recent years, Take-Two Interactive has typically shipped 5 to 10 million copies of the game every quarter. So Grand Theft Auto V sales dropped significantly.

Grand Theft Auto V will appear on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S in the second half of 2021. Perhaps this is the reason for the decline in sales: players are waiting for a new version, which will have improved graphics and performance.

In addition, Take-Two Interactive said that as of September 2020, shipments Red Dead Redemption 2 totaled over 34 million copies – 2 million more than last quarter.

Recall that Grand Theft Auto V was released on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and Red Dead Redemption 2 – on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
