After more than 19 long years of service with Rockstar, the popular DJ, but also author and producer, Lazlow Jones is leaving the ship.
He was a well known voice from the Grand Theft Auto series. It was he who scripted and presented the radio broadcasts for the license. In the fifth part, in particular, he lent his voice in Chattersphere, and we could see him in the show Fame or Shame. In GTA : Vice Citywe heard it on the station V-Rock. Since Linkedin, the artist indicates having left the Rockstar company in April 2020, and publishes a long summary of his experience with the developer.
I worked for almost 20 years at Rockstar Games as a director, producer and screenwriter for the historic franchises Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, Bully, Max Payne, Midnight Club and many more. I was co-chair of the production department at Rockstar Games and was responsible for the creative audio and video content of the games, working directly for / with Rockstar’s co-founder and creative director Dan Houser.
With his teams, Jones has also produced video game trailers, gameplay videos, commercials, Twitch lives, and wrote dialogues, composed songs and parody jingles. Prior to becoming the Houser’s writing fellow, he developed and hosted various national radio shows, including The Lazlow Show and Lazlow’s Technofile. He also founded Radio Lazlow Inc, a production company providing creative services to radio, television, or advertising companies.
The reasons for his departure are not indicated on Linkedin. On Instagram, the artist indicates that he has become the main caregiver of his sister, diagnosed with cancer in 2018. Jones also seems to be busy with a number of projects; he announces that he is working on the development of shows for Disney and Netflix, “ providing advice to a video game company and working with a Comedy Central writer / director and an Emmy-winning producer and director, formerly at Dreamworks.“
