Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Take Two Interactive Software has finally released the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) VI game trailer, one day ahead of the predetermined schedule.
The company plans to release several trailers on Tuesday (5/12) at 6 o’clock local time. However, the leak of the trailer caused Take Two to change its timeline.
Shares of the video game publisher reportedly fell as much as 4% in extended trading on Monday (4/12), after the release of the trailer, as quoted by CNBC InternationalTuesday (5/12/2023).
The video was initially leaked from the @Gta6trailerleak account on X. After that, Rockstar Games, a subsidiary of Take-Two, published the trailer on YouTube. And X suspended the account that posted the leaked video.
GTA V, released in 2013, is now the second best-selling video game in history, having sold more than 190 million copies. The best-selling game position to date is still dominated by Minecraft.
Gamers have eagerly awaited details about the latest installment of the game for years.
Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar, announced in early November that the trailer would be released in December.
“As the label approaches its 25th anniversary next month, we congratulate Rockstar Games on their continued innovation in the pursuit of the highest quality interactive entertainment,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told analysts on a conference call last November, quoted from CNBC InternationalTuesday (5/12/2023).
This new game will be available on Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X and Series S consoles.
When it airs in 2025, it is estimated that GTA VI will have an impact on Take Two’s revenue growth.
