Rockstar Games has been bringing impressive single player games to the market for years. With GTA 6, however, the studio could throw this tradition overboard.
New York – The games that make Rockstar Games their biggest hits all have one thing in common: They’re damn good single player games. Whether the GTA series or Red Dead Redemption. Aside from the online versions, these games are best known for capturing players alone in front of their screens. With GTA 6, however, the developer studio could break with this old tradition.

GTA 6: Does Rockstar Games break old traditions?
GTA 6 breaks with tradition? Rockstar Games hasn’t really delved into co-op story modes in their most successful brands. So far, it has been the common principle to fight your way through the immersive worlds of GTA or Red Dead Redemption alone. But in GTA 6 this could change. Although not much is officially known about the upcoming title, it seems as if the studio has set the course to take the next step towards co-op.

There are already many leaks about GTA 6 on the net. Some of which seem pretty fabricated, but others are also corroborated by credible journalists. Jason Schreier already said that the story of GTA 6 is inspired by the gangster couple Bonnie and Clyde. This is how assumptions about two playable protagonists named Jason and Lucia in GTA 6 arose.
The mega leak to GTA 6
On September 18, 2022, over 90 GTA 6 videos were leaked, showing various scenes and characters from the upcoming blockbuster title. To date, nothing was known about the game, but shortly after the material was published, Rockstar Games confirmed the authenticity of the files. Since then, the videos and screenshots are still being closely scrutinized and interpreted by fans. The special thing – the leaked files all come from an early version of the game from 2021.
With main characters in Bonnie and Clyde style, it stands to reason that players can experience the story of the game with both characters at the same time. Such a concept would stand out from GTA 5, since you could switch between the different protagonists, but they experienced different story strands. For many fans, adding a co-op mode to the main story seems like the most logical step. A new note about GTA 6 has appeared in GTA Online.
GTA 6 in co-op? Not an easy decision for Rockstar Games
Not brand new: Of course, Rockstar Games isn’t completely immaculate when it comes to multiplayer modes. In the online versions of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption, players can also make the streets unsafe together, but the story of the games is never played. In Bully, co-op was limited to mini-games, and in GTA San Andreas the second player effectively had no role. So there’s no denying that Rockstar Games is best known for their single player experiences.
Going new ways now also harbors dangers for the studio. Because when developers leave familiar territory, difficulties often arise. Daedalic recently had to find out that, according to reviews, they completely messed up their first stealth game Gollum. However, it has not yet been officially confirmed that Rockstar Games will actually implement co-op in the upcoming GTA part. But we would also be happy if these eight small details make it to GTA 6.
