GSD Candidate Keith Azopardi Poised to Unseat Fabian Picardo as Chief Minister, According to Gibraltar Poll

The GSD candidate for the Parliament of Gibraltar, Keith Azopardi, would unseat Fabian Picardo as chief minister by a narrow margin in the elections on October 12, according to a poll released this Thursday by the Gibraltar public broadcaster (the GBC) and the newspaper “The Gibraltar Chronicle”.

Both media outlets have today announced the result of the survey, carried out among 600 potential voters of the Rock, which gives the GSD 49.18% of the votes, while the GSLP/Liberales, which currently holds the Government, would obtain 48%. .65%, and the remaining 2.17% would go to the independent social democrat Robert Vasquez.

One week before the elections, this survey gives nine deputies to Azopardi’s GSD, while the GSLP/Liberals would obtain eight and would be left without a seat in Parliament Joe Bossano, who was chief minister and who has been part of the chamber for 51 years.

The survey has been carried out face to face by Chronicle and GBC staff at various locations in Gibraltar and at different times over the past four days.

Each voter can choose up to ten candidates in the elections to the Gibraltarian Parliament, although among the 6,000 potential votes in the survey the participants chose only 4,921, without using 18 percent of the votes they had available.

Thus, the two candidates with the most votes are from the GSD, one of them Azopardi (289 votes), followed by Damon Bossino (286), while the next three are from the current party in Government, with Picardo (285) at the helm. .
