New opportunities for regional funding: Support for companies in the region within the framework of the GRW
In future, the so-called GRW funding will only be available in Bavaria in the districts of Tirschenreuth and Wunsiedel as well as in the city and district of Hof. The district administrators had campaigned for this at the federal and European levels for the current funding period, which runs until 2027. In addition, new opportunities for investments in the areas of energy efficiency and environmental protection have recently been added to the previous classic GRW funding. The Hof district economic development agency would therefore like to encourage companies and businesses to find out about the possibilities and is happy to provide advice.
With the GRW funding, also known as the joint task “Improvement of the regional economic structure”, the federal government, together with the Free State of Bavaria, promotes investments by companies with significant regional economic effects, such as the establishment of a new business facility, the expansion of capacities or the diversification of production. The investments are intended to create new jobs or secure existing jobs and increase regional added value. The GRW funding aims to provide regional development impulses in selected structurally weak regions, the so-called GRW funding areas. The funding option and the funding amount depend on the size of the company and the industry.
District Administrator Dr. Oliver Bär: “We have been strongly committed to maintaining and expanding funding opportunities for companies and businesses that want to settle in our region or expand or make some other investment. In the future, this so-called GRW funding will only be available in the districts of Tirschenreuth and Wunsiedel as well as in the city and district of Hof. What will be new in the future is that the entire Hof district will be a funding area. What is also new is that, in the future, investments by small, medium-sized or larger companies and businesses in increasing energy efficiency – for example through the use of renewable energies in the company – will also be supported. Anyone who would like to know more about this is welcome to contact us, the Hof district economic development department.”
What is new is the increased focus on the transformation towards climate neutrality and the associated greater promotion of investments in environmental and climate protection. Increased funding rates of up to 70% (maximum funding in the previous GRW funding: 45%) are intended to create incentives for investments in this area. Investment projects with particular environmental protection or energy efficiency effects or the costs of covering the company’s own energy needs from renewable sources (including PV systems) are particularly eligible for funding.
