Grupo Riesgo warns with the closure of the old Alcoa in A Coruña | Radio Coruña

He Risk Group, new owner of Alu Iberica, has threatened to close the plant of the former Alcoa of A Coruña if the works council, the workers’ representatives, do not join your project. The other alternative that it handles would be the reduction of staff.

This has been indicated through a statement in which he indicates that he could continue the same way as Alcoa in San Cibrao or Nissan in Barcelona. It is the response of Grupo Riesgo after the caravan of workers’ vehicles through the city of A Coruña to demand that the Government intervene in the plant.

The owner of Alu Ibérica accuses the works council of “threats” and “pressures”, so he studies legal means to face them. It also analyzes whether today’s caravan has breached the regulations established by the State of Alarm.

Grupo Riesgo goes further by accusing the workers’ representatives of pursuing with their mobilizations the “destabilization of the plan that the company wants to carry out” without putting an alternative on the table.

This position of the committee, in the opinion of Grupo Riesgo, contrasts with the position of the union delegates of the sister plant of Avilés that “are helping” to promote the industrial project.

“The company regrets that the A Coruña Committee does not recognize the effort and investment made since its entry a month and a half ago, with the numerous measures adopted and investments to date, as explained in the successive face-to-face meetings held” , says that statement.

Grupo Riesgo has reported in recent days alleged management irregularities by the former managers of the A Coruña plant. They had also announced that it was strengthening its team to be able to promote the industrial project that it has committed in public statements, but that the works council has not seen in writing.

In fact, the workers’ representatives have at all times questioned Grupo Riesgo’s plans once this firm closed an agreement with Parter Capital to take control, in an operation it was kept secret until it was closed. They have also requested the intervention of the Labor Inspectorate.
