(ABM FN-Dow Jones) A US judge on Wednesday agreed to lawsuits in New York against Grubhub, Uber Eats and Postmates. This was reported by Reuters news agency on Thursday.
The meal delivery companies have been accused by restaurants of, among other things, overpriced by abusing their dominant position in meal delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the New York judge, it is also reasonable to conclude, among other things, that more restrictive clauses from Grubhub and Uber Eats discouraged restaurants from using other platforms.
In addition, the restaurants complain about delivery costs of 5 to 10 percent and commissions of 30 percent, which are often charged.
Grubhub, Uber Eats and DoorDash also filed a lawsuit to overturn a New York law that caps the fees they can charge restaurants to 15 percent, while Grubhub and DoorDash are challenging a similar law in San Francisco.
