WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Growth in manufacturing activity in the United States slowed in December amid falling demand, the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) monthly survey showed on Tuesday.
The ISM manufacturing index decelerated to 58.7 in December, the weakest pace since January 2021, from 61.1 the previous month. Economists polled by Reuters on average expected a figure of 60.0.
The number 50 marks the border between growth and contraction of activity.
