It was already known. It was seen on the first day and has been ratified on the second. That there is a great level in the BMS League… is a fact and that URA is on the path to adapting to the category, too. After losing at home, in La Legión, against a former Division of Honor B, it was time to visit one of the most legendary fields in Andalusia, Fuentenueva, on the campus of the University of Granada, to face one of the roosters. This is what the calendar said, demanding to begin with and without time to adjust to the situation and, although there have been two defeats, it has been used to grow, a lot.
The match ended with a score of 32-19 after a start in which they were soon behind, reaching 18-0 that could be cut to 18-12 before halftime. The initial push of the favorite had been revived and they were in the fight for victory, but the Granada XV wanted and was able to open a gap again shortly after the game resumed. All in all, and thinking about the final classification of the League, the rival was prevented from adding full points with a converted try in the final stretch, with which the offensive bonus did not rise to the UGR’s locker, second, with 8 points, after Mairena, 10.
to hold on
Antonio Cayuela ‘Quintana’, despite not having added, drew some conclusions to cling to for the near future: «The feelings after the game, despite the defeat, are very good, because the team recovered its attitude, being “In addition, this is the debut of several boys in the category and they performed at a very good level.” In reading the history of the duel, “they put us up 18-0 without deserving it, but the team there showed character and we went into halftime 18-12.” The second half was very close, but “due to my own mistakes due to lack of experience in the category…”.
It was not possible to get any closer on the scoreboard, and it is time to take note. “Once the attitude has recovered, now we need to learn to play in this category.” In that sense, ‘Quintana’ added that “we must keep in mind that we are playing against the top favorite to win this BMR League, which had just won in the field of its main rival, Atlético Portuense.” Given the complication of the opponent, he insisted on being “very happy with the team regarding Marbella”, ensuring that “Sunday’s game is going to be a turning point in the season and now it’s time to start growing.”

Match corresponding to the second day of the First Regional ‘Liga BMS’ played in Fuentenueva.
Minute by minute it was soon 3-0 in a converted penalty shot. It was the 4th minute, and that was followed by a try in the 13th minute in a breakaway to the right of the Granada attack, close to the side flag. The punishment followed with another blow that was chosen with sticks, converted in the 17th and the score was 18-0 in the 20th minute with the second of the local tests, that one converted, and which came due to a break in the line by the center. A quarter of the time had passed and it was time to react. In the 33rd minute, URA saw the reward for their work, accumulating phases and achieving the try, also converted.
Before going through the locker room, the score became more tense with the Crusaders’ second try, an opening play with the ball from left to right to enter close on the wing. The score of 18-12 was a creditable tie of two tries, with the difference being in the kicks and sticks.
The errors
Already in the second half, again very early, the University of Granada showed that there is no room for mistakes because they did not forgive URA’s loss and went up 25-12. It was the 46th, going into an intense fight that smiled on the locals in the 68th, tracing the play of loss and punishment to the crusaders.
In the 78th minute came ‘Hacha”s mark, repeating in the try, as against Marbella, with his repertoire of physical and technical quality. The veteran player, now a defender, was able to break the line and escape to the goal area, leaving the final 32-19 after which he had to rest and meditate. The League will return on the second weekend of November, after the long weekend, and it will do so on the La Legión field in a vital duel for Unión Rugby Almería, but also for its rival, CR Victoriano, both without having scored yet.
