Group of Thieves Enters Residence, Ties Couple Up with Adhesive Tape and Robs Them in The Bronx – NBC New York (47)

Authorities are looking for multiple people they say allegedly ambushed a man to break into a Bronx residence and then duct-taped him and a woman in her 60s to rob them.

The New York City Police said they received a report that around 5:45 p.m. Thursday, in the area of Valentine Avenue y East Burnside Avenuea 64-year-old man was approached by the suspects as he entered his apartment.

The group allegedly beat the man with a metal bar and a firearm, eventually knocking him to the ground. The uniformed officer pointed out that it was at that moment that the individuals allegedly tied the man and a 60-year-old woman who was also inside the apartment with adhesive tape.

The group of suspected thieves managed to escape with a safe, money, a purse and a backpack from the apartment, according to police.

Several of the suspects fled in a red Dodge sedan and one fled on foot toward East 180 Street y Valentine Avenue.

Police say the male victim sustained lacerations to his head and face and was taken by paramedics to St. Barnabas Hospital for treatment.
