A group of police officers gathered at the police chief’s office on Duisburglaan this morning.
Waterkant learns that they do not agree with the decision of the Surinamese Police Association (SPB), which is demanding the resignation of the Minister of Justice and Police.
There was a general members’ meeting on Tuesday, at which confidence in minister Kenneth Amoksi was withdrawn.
Inspector Milton Kensmil made a few comments on a radio show today. The bottom line is that the officers disagree with the union’s decision. “According to the statutes, the majority should decide, not a group of aspirants and newly graduated recruits,” the officers say.
It is learned that the group is currently approaching the vice president to sound the alarm and have the union’s decision annulled. The officers absolutely do not support the decision of the SPB.
