“We further inform you that, contrary to what, in a frivolous and irresponsible manner, has been transmitted to the media, by the current clinical director, 24 directors of hospital services, which corresponds to approximately 70% of them, are dismissed and have their support signed 154 doctors in the hospital staff ”, they stress.
These contesting clinicians also consider that “this is the path desired by everyone to guarantee the normal functioning of the Regional Health Service”.
Today, on the sidelines of a conference, the regional secretary of Health of Madeira, Pedro Ramos, confronted with the holding of this meeting, opined that the situation would be resolved “with dialogue, hoping that” common sense would prevail “.
The controversy over the appointment of the clinical director of Sesaram began when the physician Filomena Gonçalves, appointed by the CDS-PP, was initially chosen.
Then, about 90% of the clinical directors of the Regional Health Service contested this decision, opposing the alteration of Sesaram’s statutes, according to which the clinical management must be assumed by a doctor of the staff. That doctor worked in the private sector.
Following these revelations, Filomena Gonçalves was unavailable for the post, also considering having suffered “public humiliation”. The second choice fell on Mário Pereira.
This doctor took office on February 7 and called for “pacification”, promising to meet with the service directors of Sesaram.
However, the contesting doctors maintain the decision to resign, considering that there is a partisanship in the clinical area of health in the region.
