IIn the presence of State Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister, the ground-breaking ceremony for the necessary addition of kindergarten groups took place.

“Today is another historic moment for the community of Fels,” said Mayor Christian Bauer when he attended the early morning groundbreaking ceremony on the kindergarten and school grounds alongside State Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister, representatives of the construction companies, Thomas Kerzan (construction supervisor) and Thomas Antel from the Pölzl company (construction supervision for building services).

Together with managing director Josef Mitterhofer (HausUmZubau) and architect Christian Galli, state councilor Teschl-Hofmeister and mayor Bauer broke ground in the presence of several kindergarten children. Construction will start in September and completion is scheduled for August 2024.

This project was initiated by the municipality at the earliest possible point in time, as this also requires approval from the Lower Austrian provincial government, which essentially depends on the number of children of the appropriate age in the municipality. Before 2023, Fels applied every six months to the state of Lower Austria for a needs assessment negotiation. Only with the “Lower Austria kindergarten offensive” in the course of the last Lower Austrian state elections was the need for the current extension recognized by the office of the Lower Austrian state government due to the number of children and the municipality was one of the first in Lower Austria to do so last January has fallen under the new legal situation. “In general, our municipality takes all legally permissible measures under the Lower Austrian Kindergarten Act in order to be able to offer as many affected children as possible a place in kindergarten at the earliest possible time,” says Mayor Christian Bauer.
