State police (VP) confirmed to the portal “Delfi” that in Babīte parish, on the road section to Brīvkalni, a man ‘s corpse with a gunshot wound was found in a car.
The information available to the LP indicates that suicide may have been committed.
Examinations have been ordered and the police continue to explain the circumstances.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted for the incident pursuant to Chapter 12 of the Criminal Law, which covers crimes related to murder. In the interests of investigation, law enforcement officers do not currently provide further information.
Groscope was born in 1963. He has been included in the list of millionaires several times: in 2003, the magazine “Klubs” mentioned Latvia in the list of 300 “Euro / Dollar” millionaires, while in 2008 the newspaper “Dienas Bizness” mentioned Groscope in the list of “Latvia’s 1000 millionaires”.
He is the sole owner of SIA “Gros Auto grupa”.
The company was established in 1994 and its core business is the retail and wholesale of car spare parts, engine oils, tires and accessories. The share capital of “Gros auto grupa” is 1.399 million euros. The company is wholly owned by Gunvalds Groskops.
In October, the Riga District Court terminated the legal protection process of SIA “Gros Auto grupa”.
According to data from Lursoft, the company had accumulated a tax debt of 1.67 million euros by November 26 this year. In May this year, the company received state aid, which provides for the distribution of tax payments in time or deferral for up to three years.
By the decision of the Tax Debt Collection Board of the State Revenue Service (SRS) “Gros Auto grupa” on February 20 of this year, a ban on registration, re-registration, renewal and amendment of a commercial pledge in the Commercial Pledge Register of the Register of Enterprises was applied.
Last year, its turnover was 8.9 million euros, but the loss was 2.13 million euros. The company had 119 employees.
The company’s total payments to the general state budget in 2019 reached 1.96 million euros.
