A light parade for children that was registered as a demo – by self-confessed “lateral thinking” activists. The town hall forbids the event in large rooms.
A lantern procession for children registered as a demonstration causes excitement in Groß-Zimmer (Darmstadt-Dieburg district). There two pediatric nurses, who are known for their commitment to the Corona-critical “lateral thinking” initiative, registered a light parade for Wednesday under the title “Licht im Dunkel”. Mayor Achim Grimm (CDU) immediately banned the event by ruling. The decision was sent to the initiators on Tuesday. At the request of the Frankfurter Rundschau, he justified this decision with the fact that one had weighed between freedom of demonstration and the corona ordinance. “We put the health of the citizens above it.” The initiators are avowed opponents of the mask.
In an article in the Groß-Zimmerner Lokal-Anzeiger, which appeared a few weeks ago, the organizers are quoted as saying that there is “no mouthguard that can stop Sars” and that children are “neither dangerous nor at risk”.
According to the mayor, the move should start and end on the town hall square and loudspeakers should also be installed. Not exactly typical for a Martin parade. Many calls and emails had reached the town hall after the announcement of the parade of lights appeared in local media on November 11th. It would have been the only Martin parade in town, because due to the corona conditions, such events are currently not possible. “Everyone else was sensible and stuck to it,” said Grimm.
The decision to prohibit the demonstration was also made against the background that there was an outbreak of Covid-19 in a senior citizens’ home in Groß -zimmer over the weekend. 26 residents and members of the nursing staff were infected there, according to Grimm.
