Groningen dance school owner suspected of abuse: eleven reports

The case revolves around the Groningen Dance Center, a large dance school in the city of Groningen. The man was arrested on September 8 and brought before the court on Thursday. There, his pre-trial detention was extended by 90 days. He is the only suspect in the case.

Students of the school dance at a high level and participate in national and international dance competitions.

Reports

Yesterday the staff of the dance school sent a letter to the students and their parents, informing them of the arrest. The school calls on students who are victims or witnesses to report to the police.

The letter states: “As a dance school we feel defeated by the news. What happened and how could this have happened? During the police investigation, more will become clear and the Public Prosecution will communicate this.”

Close family

“It pains us a lot to have to share this news with you,” the school wrote in the letter. “The joint weekends to participate in these championships, the final presentations and many workshops have made us a close-knit family. That’s why the blow is so great for us.”

The OM is not actively engaged in informing parents, spokesman Bart Olmer told RTL News. The OM confirms that the man is suspected of abuse within the dance school, but is reluctant to provide more information due to the sensitivity of the case.
