Since 1994, the sugar-free soft drink variety from Coca Cola has been available in Norwegian stores, but now it’s over.
When Coca Cola Company was to launch a sugar-free alternative to Norwegian Coca Cola drinkers, the soft drink producer mixed together a drink called TAB X-tra. Norway became the first country in the world where the soda type was launched.
27 years later, only in Norway has the soda survived. In all the countries it was launched, it has over time been taken out of production.
Takes the product off the market
Also in this country, people’s TAB X-tra involvement has waned in recent years, one must believe communications manager in Coca Cola Norway, Inger Marie Ingdahl.
– Tab X-tra was Coca-Cola’s first soft drink when the product was launched in 1963, and was a popular brand throughout the 70s and 80s. Since then, we have launched other sugar-free brands that have taken over this position. As a result of this and limited demand for Tab X-tra, we have decided to take the product out of the market, says Ingdahl to Romerikes Blad.

– Understand that people are disappointed
She can tell that there have been some messages from disappointed TAB X-tra fans already.
– Yes, there have been some inquiries lately. Most questions are about whether the product is still available in stores. We understand that people are disappointed, says Ingdahl, and emphasizes that the decision to stop production was made by Coca-Cola centrally. It will therefore apply to more countries than Norway, she tells the newspaper.

Before, TAB X-tra was also available for purchase in 1.5 liter bottles, but a few years ago they were also taken out of production.
If you want to secure a half-liter bottle of TAB X-tra, you have to be quick. Production has already stopped, so the bottles that can be found in the shops now will be the last ones that can be recovered.
