The Grizzlys Wolfsburg have drawn their option to extend the contract of defender Janik Möser prematurely. The number 24 of Lower Saxony will be on the ice for the grizzlies in the coming season.
Möser came to Wolfsburg for the current season, previously he was under contract with the Adler Mannheim. Born in Mannheim, he played a total of 41 games for the Kurpfälzer from 2018 to 2020 (three goals, two assists). During the past season, the left shooter was also loaned to the Iserlohn Roosters and was on the ice in 16 games for the Iserlohner.
After moving to the Grizzlys in the summer of last year, Möser had to wait until mid-January for his first appearance in black and orange. As a result of a corona infection, Möser was diagnosed with heart muscle inflammation in mid-November. As a result, the 25-year-old not only missed the games of the MagentaSport Cup, but was also not allowed to play in the first eight games of the DEL season.
In the 3-2 away win in Krefeld on January 20, 2021, he finally celebrated his debut for Lower Saxony and became an important support in the Grizzly’s defense in the following eight games.
“I am very happy that we were able to extend the contract early. After my switch and because of the illness, I certainly didn’t have an easy time. But the club gave me excellent support in everything, so that I am in top shape again and can do my bit for the team. I hope that we will play successful ice hockey this and the coming season, I am looking forward to that ”, emphasizes Janik Möser.
“We took the option from Janik prematurely because he worked his way back into the team very quickly after his infection and is now an integral part of the defense. So far, he has fully met the expectations we placed on him when he was committed. Janik did not have an easy time with us due to his Covid-19 infection and the subsequent heart muscle disease. Despite the circumstances, he also made a major contribution to raising awareness through the transparent handling of the disease, as well as the ice, ”says Grizzlys Sports Director Karl-Heinz Fliegauf.
