The Grizzlys announced in the evening: “The entire team of the Grizzlys Wolfsburg, including the coaching and support staff, is in domestic isolation due to some positive tests for the Corona virus. The people affected are doing well under the circumstances. The games on Friday against Krefeld and two days later against Augsburg will not take place and should be made up at a later date. “

A quarantine period of ten days is conceivable, but the Prime Minister’s Conference will advise on changes to the quarantine guidelines in Germany on Friday.

There was no statement about the number of actors who tested positive. There are of course no catch-up dates yet. Whether there is a connection with the game last Sunday is open. Since the Grizzlys had played against RB Munich, shortly afterwards RB reported several positive cases and, among other things, could not play its Champions League game in Tampere on Tuesday. The positive tests must have occurred on Thursday at Wolfsburg, the tests on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning were still negative, according to coach Mike Stewart.

“It was clear that it could hit us too”

For the Grizzly it is the first Corona game cancellations of this season, some other clubs have been hit harder, the Iserlohn Roosters are currently also in quarantine, are relocating at least three games. The game plan is getting more and more tricky to keep, the discussion about whether the relegation will be suspended again flares up again.

Coach Stewart: “It’s not an easy path, it was clear that it could happen to us too. Now let’s hope that our actors will recover quickly and well.”

The duration of the quarantine for the players will be determined in consultation with the health authorities.
