Grizzlies beat Spurs to 7 straight wins

SAN ANTONIO (AP) – Gorgui Dieng scored 19 points, Brandon Clarke added another 18 and the Memphis Grizzlies easily beat the San Antonio Spurs 133-102 on Monday night for seven straight wins.

Kyle Anderson and De’Anthony Melton each contributed 17 points and Ja Morant finished with 13 points and eight assists for Memphis to win its second game in a row after 12 days without playing due to league health and safety protocols.

Keldon Johnson finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds for San Antonio, which posted its second straight loss after winning all three of its previous games. The Spurs retired their starters midway through the fourth quarter with the Grizzlies leading 111-90.

Nine Memphis players scored in double digits to complete the two-game sweep at San Antonio. After shooting 56% from the field in Saturday’s 129-112 victory, Memphis matched that percentage on Monday, in addition to making 50% of its three-point attempts.

Dieng and Melton were part of the 62-41 reserve points lead for the Grizzlies.

As happened on Saturday, the Grizzlies defensively bullied the Spurs and clearly outplayed them on offense. Memphis led 62-32 in points in the paint despite missing Jaren Jackson Jr., Jonas Valaciunas and Justise Winslow.
