Grisekaldt: It was -32.8 degrees here

The night’s chilling record was 32.8 degrees below zero. The measurement was taken at Kyrkjestølane station on Filefjell in Vang municipality in Valdres at 01:00 last night.

– It’s quite cold, says editorial meteorologist Unni Nilssen of the Meteorological Institute.

But it was also freezing cold last night in many other places:

  • Hemsedal: – 29.9
  • Dagali Airport: – 29.6
  • Thin set: – 29.2
  • Drevsjo: – 29.6
  • Mo and Rana: – 26.1
  • Hovden: – 26.1
  • Roros: – 25.8
  • Frost: – 25.3

Minus 35.9

Tuesday was also wild in several spots.

Then it was the Karasjok measuring station that ran away with the lowest record of 35.9 degrees Celsius, according to the meteorologist.

Otherwise, Bjorli could boast minus 34.6 degrees on Tuesday, Filefjell with 32.5 degrees and Kautokeino with minus 31.1 degrees.

– It’s been uniformly cold in many places around the country for the past two days, Nilssen says.

And it is said that temperatures have not yet reached the minimum.

– There will still be a few days of fairly cold weather, so it’s hard to tell if the cold high has been fully reached. Right away, it seems like the night we’ve had now has been a little colder than later nights, but it looks like there could be some chilly days leading up to the weekend, he says.

Switch to the week

But that will change next week, when a low pressure arrives from the northwest on Monday.

The low pressure brings with it warm air that will first arrive in western Norway and then move east and north.

Only Finnmark appears to remain firmly on the blue side of the scale when low pressure hits.
