Grimlore Games studio has published a diary of the diabloid developers Titan Quest II and at the same time shared new art and screenshots of the game. In their material, the developers talked about their sources of inspiration and promised that all locations in the title will be made by hand. No procedural generation:
We want our world to convey the same sense of fantasy adventure set in the beautiful Greek landscape as before, so we carefully studied the original game as well as the vibrant nature of Greece itself when developing the world.
Titan Quest II replete with mythological locations. These are places where monsters or magical creatures live. Sometimes they take the form of towering structures built by the gods themselves. We took inspiration from ancient Greek temples and villages, but wanted to give them a larger mythological feel.
Although some locations in the game are historical, the version of these places in Titan Quest II obviously fantastic. Just as the ancient Greeks believed that the hand of the gods was at work in their lives, so does the world Titan Quest II is a world where all the gods, monsters and magical creatures of Greek mythology are real, and this approach allows us to depict the Messenian coast and Sparta as you have never seen them before.
We use the term “handcrafted” to describe our world because we want every place the player discovers to be special. There’s a price to be paid for wandering off the beaten path, so our designers built the world by hand, without procedural generation, to capture the player’s attention and take them on unique, memorable adventures. Many of the most interesting places in the world Titan Quest II have no pointers at all! Players can discover them on their own.
The game will be released on PC, PS 5 and Xbox Series. No date yet.
