The singer, DJ and producer, Grimes used his X profile to vent about what he’s been through in the last year, including a legal dispute with his ex-partner, Elon Musk, for the custody of their children.
The relationship lasted three years, from 2018 to 2021, and they had three children together, although only X Æ A-XII, the firstborn, was born from a natural pregnancy by Grimes.
On the other hand, his middle daughter, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, and the youngest baby, Tau Techno Mechanicus, were born through surrogacy through artificial fertilization.
In a recent publication, Grimes says she went months without seeing one of her children. In previous posts, he made it clear that his intention has always been to keep children out of the public eye. However, Musk has frequently appeared in public with X Æ.
“I spent a year in a battle [legal] in a state with terrible laws for mothers, seeing how they used my Instagram posts and my work as a model as reasons to say that I should not have custody of my children,” wrote Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher.
He goes on to say that all of this happened while he was walking away from the “love of his life” and claims that Musk became a person “unrecognizable” during this period.
“I went through all of this with a fraction of your resources (or strategic IQ/experience). During that time, I didn’t see any of my babies for five months. And that is all I can say publicly, since most of my experience in recent years must remain behind closed doors.”
The process between the singer and Musk for custody of the children concluded last week in a Texas court, but the details of the agreement were not revealed. In X, Grimes suggested that she now has the right to be with the children every two weeks.
