After a “warm” victory by cousins Esteban and Marco Grimalt, as a duo from Team Chile, they took over the Fourth Stage of the South American Beach Volleyball Circuit, which took place this weekend at the Medialuna Monumental in Rancagua.
This championship, which took place on February 23, 24 and 25 in the regional capital, was attended by teams of 15 female and 14 male pairs that were part of this tournament that brought together teams from eight countries. South Americans, with the exception of Colombia and Venezuela.
The outstanding participation of the South American pairs met the expectations of the public who attended en masse at each of the competitions, turning Rancagua into the beach volleyball capital of the South American countries.
Earlier, the pairs from Argentina and Paraguay began the final of this competition, where the latter, made up of Erika Mongelos and Fiorella Nunez Quintana, took the gold medal, defeating the neighboring gauchas in three sets. country.
Esteban and Marco Grimalt, who make up Team Chile, took the men’s gold by defeating the Uruguayan duo, made up of Nicolás Llambías Carvalho and Hans Hannibal in a match that the public enjoyed during the three sets, where the local team beat the visitor with a score of 2-1 (16/21, 21/16 and 15/10).
The first set was difficult for the Grimalt cousins, who were surpassed in the first set 16/21, a situation that forced them and pressured by the public that cheered them on, they achieved the highest score in the last two sets.
This is the fourth stage that Team Chile has managed to win, taking into account that in the third they also took the victory together with the local duo Vicente Droguett and Noé Aravena.
It is important to note that the passage to the final of this fourth stage, held this Sunday the 25th, was made up of the women’s teams from Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil; while in men the teams from Chile, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina competed.
In this way, the Chilean team, with its extraordinary participation, has taken over the four stages of the Circuit, thus becoming a sporting power in the discipline of beach volleyball.
