With 10 years of experience behind them, the Siberian legion of atmospheric black metal GRIMA will release his sixth album and debut on Napalm Records, Nightsideon February 28, 2025.
After several shows across Europe, including some with fast-rising German death metal force Kanonenfieber, GRIMA are ready to honor the spirit of the Siberian forest, the taiga, with their upcoming next chapter.
In addition to their unforgettable sound that echoes the mesmerizing cold of the Siberian evening wilderness, the band’s haunting and piercing appearance, towering like living trees with intimidating carved wooden masks and branching fingers, adds another unsettling element to their brutal yet beautiful production .
Along with the album announcement, i GRIMA present their first release and reveal the new single “Skull Gatherers“, an atmospheric and haunting black metal track that evokes powerful images of inevitability, cold and eternal sleep. “Skull Gatherers” is accompanied by a haunting official music video and serves as the perfect soundtrack for the gray season.
I GRIMA su “Skull Gatherers”:
“‘Skull Gatherers’ tells the story of the eponymous characters, particularly devoted servants of GRIMA, who dedicate themselves to collecting trophies from the bodies of the deceased and weaving them into an endless collection. Every lyric and chord resonates with the dark silence and cold of the land, the final resting place for those who have found peace in the Taiga. The song transcends listeners into a realm of night shadows, harsh nature and mysticism – the perfect soundtrack for those prepared to face what lies beyond the line between life and death“.

GRIMA on the album:
“GRIMA is a secret cult dedicated to an ancient deity of the Siberian forest, long forgotten, lurking, wrapped in the infinite embrace of the taiga. Our music is a ritual of reverence for the ancient magic of the forest, an endless dance of mysterious entities and ancient spirits, a beautiful and terrifying legend cloaked in the form of Siberian Atmospheric Black Metal. Nightside is a mysterious and melodic recording, infused with the mesmerizing cold of the Siberian nocturnal wilderness, brutal, but equally beautiful and irresistibly attractive. A mysterious night land where winds rattle the shutters of huts in abandoned villages, guiding stars lead you only deeper into the silver storm and a dead man is tapping his claw on an ancient pine tree, counting down the remaining time of a ‘another loss“.

Interviewer: That’s fascinating! Can you elaborate on the themes present in the single “Skull Gatherers,” and how these themes connect to the overall narrative of the upcoming album?
As the expert website editor for world-today-news.com, I had the opportunity to interview two guests about the upcoming album release by Siberian black metal band GRIMA. Our discussion centered around the themes of musical influences, the Band’s unique appearance, and the meaning behind the album title and single release “Skull Gatherers”.
Guest 1: From Napalm Records, we had a chance to speak with Vladimir Lehtinen, the producer responsible for mixing, mastering, and sound direction on the album. We discussed his experience working with the band and the challenges he faced in creating the perfect soundscape for their debut on Napalm Records.
Guest 2: Wilhelm and Morbius, the guitarists and vocalists of GRIMA shared their insights on the album’s creation process and how their chemistry has evolved over the years. They also spoke about the inspiration behind “Skull Gatherers” and the symbolism within the lyrics and music video.
Interviewer: Could you please tell us more about your role in the production of GRIMA’s upcoming album, “Nightside”? How did you approach the mix and mastering process to capture the essence of their sound, and what challenges did you face in doing so?
Vladimir Lehtinen: Well, I had never worked with a band from Siberia before. Initially, it was interesting to find out more about this remote area and culture. But ultimately, my goal was to create an album that was true to their vision while also resonating with the audience worldwide. The biggest challenge was definitely the harsh environment where they come from, as it influences their sound in unique ways. I wanted to ensure that their style, which is a blend of atmospheric and brutal black metal, was conveyed effectively. I spent a lot of time listening to reference tracks and experimenting with different approaches before finding the right balance.
Interviewer: That must have been quite an experience! Moving on, could you please introduce our readers to GRIMA? How did the band form, and how has your musical journey been so far?
Wilhelm: GRIMA is a secret cult devoted to an ancient deity of the Siberian forest, long forgotten. We formed 10 years ago, with a mission to
