On November 16, the popular action RPG from Crate Entertainment will receive update 1.2.0.0. According to information from the creators provided via Steam, the patch will introduce a number of changes and innovations to the game, affecting not only the gameplay itself, but also the visual component or modding capabilities. Here are some of them:
The scaling of the Normal and Elite levels has been changed – in Normal mode only individual areas are scaled to level 100, and in Elite mode all areas are scaled. The value and frequency of loot drops has been reworked – the chance of items falling from the enemy has been reduced by 30-60%. To compensate for this, the quality of loot and the amount of iron dropped have been increased significantly. Added a dodge feature – the default skill assigned to the space bar interrupts any other action to immediately jump in the chosen direction, while granting a short window of invulnerability. New accessibility features have been added – among other things, players can turn off fog and the day/night cycle (the default will be set to noon), as well as start a collapse timer if necessary. The size of community created map files has been increased so that modders can create maps that are no larger than 4 GB (previously 2 GB).
The above list is just a small taste of the changes that the upcoming update will bring to Grim Dawn. If you want to know the details about the patch, you can find them here Here.
The developers say the update will “usher in a new era” for the game ahead of the release of the Fangs of Asterkarn expansion pack next year. With such dedication from the developers to the nearly eight-year-old game, it’s no surprise that it enjoys such a high reputation among players. At the time of writing this news, Grim Dawn has 86,824 reviews on Steam, of which up to 93% (81,308) are positive.
